Spatial Data Retrieval System
SDRS provides users with an easy-to-use interface for performing various tasks in ArcMap. The data structure is partially based on the CAD/GIS Spatial Data Standard (SDSFIE) version 2.1. SDRS is an extension to ArcGIS. An ESRI ArcGIS license is required for the use of this software. SDRS runs on top of ArcGIS and uses ArcObjects technology to access functions built into the ArcMap application. SDRS is currently available for both ArcMap 8 and ArcMap 9.2.
- Open Project -- Used for setting up, modifying, and deleting SDRS projects.
- Configuration Manager -- Allows default values to be assigned to projects (i.e., shortcut paths, projection type).
- Remove Themes -- Removes all themes from the active data frame.
- Theme Manager -- Opens the Theme Manager Dialog. Allows the user to add Themes in order to create Theme Groups.
- Themes On -- Turns on all layers in the ArcMap Table of Contents. No project has to be loaded to use this tool.
- Themes Off -- Turns off all layers in the ArcMap Table of Contents. No project has to be loaded to use this tool.
- Clear Selected Features -- Deselects all selected features in the view. This is currently a feature of ArcMap that was added to the SDRS toolbar for added convenience.
- Zoom to Selected Features -- Zooms the view extent to encompass the selected feature(s). This is currently a feature of ArcMap that was added to the SDRS toolbar for added convenience.
- Select Features -- Selects one or more features in the view by clicking features or dragging a box over features. This is currently a feature of ArcMap that was added to the SDRS toolbar for added convenience.
- Locate By Attributes -- The locator automatically populates the drop-down box with that field name and populates the list box with the values from that field if a locate field was preset in the Themes Properties dialog. The user may select a different field in the drop-down list. When the value is clicked, the feature is highlighted and the view zooms to the extent of the zoom scale on the locator dialog.
- Locate By Area -- Defines geographic areas and saves the extent of the area. When the user clicks the defined area, the view zooms to the extent of the defined area.
- Locate By Coordinates -- Defaults to the type of coordinate system defined in the first added theme and displays the system name on the dialog. Coordinates may be manually entered or entered by dragging the mouse on the map area.
- Reference Manager -- Links and displays external references to features within datasets. References are displayed in a list and any number of references in the list maybe shown at one time.
- Layout Manager -- Creates general, ready-made layouts.
- Calculate -- Calculates area and perimeter for polygon themes.
