DBQue
Data Management Tool

DBQue is a data management application specifically designed as a bridge to higher quality products for the GIS community. It gives the user the ability to review and assign features and attributes to data, link data to a database, perform quality checks, and export linked data from a database to shape files or design drawing files. DBQue is an extension to MicroStation GeoGraphics.

The DBQue toolbar has eight key tools to extend data management and cleanup ability that are to manipulate GeoSpatial data.

  1. Review Attributes -- Displays the feature review box. Review/Edit supports the attribute domains based on the Spatial Data Standard. The “Review Dialog Box”, also displays the feature name, the attribute and the MSLINK value.

  2. Feature and Attribute Links (F&A) -- Links or assigns graphic elements to a specific feature or attribute table. Links are created by Feature Only, Attribute Only, or by Feature and Attribute.

  3. Selector -- Scans the graphic file and selects elements based on criteria selected from a drop down box. This can be useful in looking for cells.

  4. Quality Check and Locate (QC&L) -- Performs over twelve data quality checks. The data validation tool checks and repairs errors in data which allows the user to maintain geospatial data integrity. The “Quality Check and Locate” button checks f or:

  • Orphan Records
  • Orphan Linkages
  • Connect Attribute Table
  • Element vs. Feature Table
  • Missing feature Linkage
  • Missing Attribute Linkage
  • Link Not (Oracle ODBE)
  • Multiple Features
  • Multiple Attributes
  • Duplicate Attributes
  • Zero Length Line
  • Shared Cells
  • Find Duplicate Points
  • Info Link on Features

  1. Populate -- Allows users to populate attributes for elements in a selection set. If the selection includes more than one table, only those tables that have the specified field will be populated.

  2. Copy Link -- A tool for the experienced GeoGraphics user, “Copy Link” can speed up the database linking from one element to another. It is especially useful when attributing multiple elements with text from a design file.

  3. Data Export -- Data Export -- Allows users to export features from a design file to ESRI shapefile format or a GeoGraphics project in Access by using the Export tool. An option to export by spatial layer or by category is also available. DBQue can write to ODBC and Oracle databases, and has the ability to read and update DMRS, INFORMIX, INGRES, and XBASE database formats.
